Blog # 9 - My Young Adult Novel
Writing a young adult novel would be extremely interesting and difficult. As I am now 23 years old I would have to reflect on my teenage years to determine the most important experiences and who inspired and shaped me to be the person I am today. I would write my essay from my viewpoint today, looking back on my teenage years (so I could better analyze my experiences). I would begin my novel by writing about my first day of high school and how intimidated I was to be in a new school. The high school was so much bigger in the middle school and looked like a jail from the outside. It was difficult going from being the oldest and most mature students in middle school, to being a “freshman” in high school. Throughout my high school experience I overcame many obstacles and was faced with many different types of pressure. I would also write about my first love. I feel head over heels for this boy named Chris. I thought our relationship was going to last forever only to become heartbroken when we broke up. Looking back on that situation I realize that my first break up was not the end of the world, but only the beginning! It would be my hope that teenagers today would read my book and be able to relate to many of the situations. I hope they would gain an understanding that throughout your teenage years you are faced with many obstacles and it is how you react to those obstacles that make you the person you will become. Looking back at my experiences it was the simple events and relationships I had with others that have made me who I am today.
